Water Baptism Is Not An Option But A Commandment Of God

Water Baptism Is Not An Option But A Commandment Of God

Monday 12th January

Text: Mark 16:15-16
Key verse: Matthew 28: 19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Water baptism is a rite commanded to be carried out on all who have repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. For a Christian convert, water baptism is not an option, it is a commandment of God to be done without delay. Those who have become converted to Christ and have all the privilege to be baptized in water but play carelessness are in disobedience and sin. Ministers of the gospel must be prompt at baptizing their converts in water. Water baptism is not for sinners or infants, but for those that have understood the gospel, repented of their sins and have responded to faith on the Lord Jesus.
Acts 8:36-38 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
Biblical water baptism is one immersion into the body of water in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is the baptism formula carried out by the Apostles in Acts the Apostles. The phrase “Baptism in the name of JESUS” means baptism as authorized, instructed or commanded by Jesus, to differentiate it from the baptism of John and the one the Pharisees did on their converts.

Thought For The Day: Water baptism is a commandment you must obey.

Live Peacefully With All Men

God's blessings will continually accompany you for dedicating time to your studies.

Live Peacefully With All Men

Saturday 10th January

Text: Matthew 5:23-24.
Key verse:  Follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14.
Make peace with your opponents before giving your offering. If your brother offends you, settle the matter between him and you. If he would not hear, take another person with you to meet him; If he would not hear, take the matter to the church. That is what Jesus says. But if he still refuses to hear the church, then leave the matter to God. God knows the effort you have made to discipline yourself to follow this truth. God will not hold you responsible, but do not hold that man in your heart.
If you offended a man and you went to apologise but he refused, then you called another person and went with him to apologize to him and yet he said he would not hear, you have made all efforts to make peace, but the man would not listen, you are discharged and acquitted by God. Be careful with your heart attitude towards your brother so that you do not hate your brother or get angry unnecessarily without a cause. Even if it is for a cause, your anger should not last till the going down of the sun. Be ye angry, and sin not, let not the sun go down upon your wrath. But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Be careful with words. "Whosoever shall say to his brother, 'You are useless.' God has made somebody, and you say he is useless? Even the devil is still useful to God, and you are calling a human being that God has made in His image and likeness, useless? You stand in the danger of judgment! Have you called your brother a fool already? Have you oppressed your brother already? Have you transgressed against your brother already and what matters in your heart now is to serve the Lord; to sing and give offering to God? God will not respect it; it is not coming from a pure heart.

Sanctification Is The Remedy For Inbred Sin.

God's blessings will continually accompany you for dedicating time to your studies.

Sanctification Is The Remedy For Inbred Sin

Wednesday 7th January

Text: 1 Corinthians 3:1-8.
Key verse: Psalms 51:7 "Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean, wash me and I shall be whiter than snow."
It is commonly known of believers that after salvation experience, the heart still shows up some filth, revealed by time and circumstances. You may not notice it immediately you are born again, because of the joy and happiness accompanying salvation, but with time, as you remain a Christian, you will begin to have some tensions and feelings that you do not actually approve of. This is the manifestation of inherited or inbred sin. These are not actual sins of fornication, drunkenness and others which you no longer commit. This one deals with the heart. That is why God said, "My son, give Me your heart. I want to make it righteous. I want to do another operation on the heart that will make it whiter than snow." God says so because even among the disciples of Jesus, He observed a lifestyle that showed filth and dirt. And there was also a strife among them, ‘which of them should be accounted the greatest.’
They were children of God, but self-seeking and self-promotion were manifested in them. They were not thinking of how to glorify God only. Holiness had not been achieved completely in their lives, because there was still fleshly struggle. Although, they may not act openly to avoid embarrassment, within them there was a struggle on who is better than the other. There is a desire to be known. God makes a man known, but you want to make yourself known. You want to announce your good works. You want people to know that you are different, carrying different anointing. Everybody should know everywhere that you are special. Allow God to bring you to a state that you will not be seeking your own glory. When you seek self-glory, it shows dirt is still in your life, you are not yet clean. Sanctification is required for the cleanliness that makes holiness easy, peaceful and brightens your life before men. Salvation does in a sinner what initial washing does to a dirty cloth. Sanctification does to a believer what rinsing does to a washed cloth.

Thought For The Day:  Sanctification is required for holiness.

Let Your Spirit, Soul And Body Be Preserved Blameless.

God's blessings will continually accompany you for dedicating time to your studies.

Let Your Spirit, Soul And Body Be Preserved Blameless

Monday 5th January.

Text: 1Thessalonians 5:22-24
Key Verse: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Thessalonians 5:23
God created humans with three parts: the spirit, the soul and the body. The three are separate entities but exist as one. Each part has to be taken good care of for one to live well here on earth and in eternity. It is very essential, therefore, that you care well for your spirit, soul and body. The three persons in a man - the spirit, the soul and the body- should be well cared for and preserved. It is the responsibility of God to preserve you blameless to the end. It is God's responsibility, and also your responsibility. If you do your part well, God will surely do His own. It is a covenant. It is an agreement between God and you. God will do His own part because He is faithful, but you, too, must play your own role. It is a dual responsibility. It is the desire of God that we should be spiritually fruitful, holy and healthy.
The prosperity, soundness and well-being of the whole man in spirit, soul and body is what God desires for you. Brethren, desire this also for your fellow ones in Christ. Desire their soundness in spirit, soul and body. The spirit and the soul form the spiritual man, which we do not see. What we see is the physical body. We cannot touch our spirit or our soul, and very often, the spirit and the soul are joined very tightly together. The Bible says that it is the word of God that can separate between the two, but what we see is the body.
For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Thought For The Day: You have a responsibility to preserve your spirit, soul and body.

Song For The Day: My body is your sanctuary (2x); Purify me like Gold, so I might be bold.
